Fish Welfare from Bath Treatments

Before, during and after treatment, it is vital to keep control over fish welfare.

Definitions of a few significant parameters:

Fish Welfare: Quality of life as perceived by the animal itself over a period of time
Welfare Indicator: Observable, measurable, scalable and verifiable attribute of the animal or its environment, that correlate the welfare of the animal
Fish Based Welfare Indicators: Welfare indicators based on observations of animal behaviour, biological function and health condition

These are the parameters that are monitored and examined in treatment.

A new and proven approach

Paramove treatment, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), is a method with documented effect against AGD and sea lice, and provided correct usage supports and improves the welfare needs of the fish. Particularly when using bath treatment in cages with tarpaulin, one will achieve an optimum treatment causing very little stress for the fish, as it is receives treatment in its own habitat, without pumping, crowding and with minimum action. Good fish welfare is maintained and improved by cage treatment with Paramove.

All AGD and sea lice on the salmon, the cleaner-fish, cages, nets and equipment will be treated. Sea lice eggs will be weakened and the larva dies during hatching. This reduces self-contamination and contamination of other localities.

Under controlled conditions

When using Paramove it is essential that the treatment takes place under controlled conditions. The water quality, salinity, turbidity, oxygen, CO2, temperature, dosing and exposure time are parameters under our control, and therefore maintains fish welfare under treatment.

We have equipment tailored for dosing and distribution of Paramove in the cage, adapted to the welfare of the fish under both AGD and sea lice treatment.

After treatment the fish will receive a considerably improvement of general health condition, as Paramove removes or reduces the amoeba from the gills, purges the gills tissue and help release fresh tissue for oxygen uptake. One clearly observes improvements in the fish behaviour and appetite after an AGD treatment. One sees a long-term effect on AGD and delays a resurgence of the infection up until 3 weeks after treatment.

Results

Following a successful treatment of Paramove sea lice treatment, the fish get rid of the parasite, itching ceases and damages get an opportunity to heal.
